In the opening to the Gemba Academy podcast with Jamie Flinchbauch on the 4Cs of Trust, they chatted about the topic of problem solving. I loved the sentiment they discussed - if you find yourself continually solving problems, maybe THAT is the problem itself. They said some version of “Stop solving solving so many problems, start learning!”
“It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.”
And this was inspired by a quote from Albert Einstein about staying with problems longer. Apparently, this quote has mutated into other variants along the lines of, “If I had 60 minutes to save the world, I would spend 55 minutes defining the problem and five minutes solving it.” But Einstein never said this, though the “stay with problems longer” is a pretty good variant.
