Getting machines to think like us

CNet has an interview with John McCarthy, who is credited with coining the term Artificial Intelligence 50 years ago: Getting machines to think like us with Jonathan Skillings.

Lots of interesting tidbits in the interview, but this one was entertaining.  50 years ago McCarthy thought there was plenty of computing power, just no good ideas on how to make AI happen.  That's still the case today.  And where will the new ideas come from?  He suspects some young upstart, and I suggest it will be someone who isn't formally doing AI research.
